My name is Rachel Dikul Baker and I am the founder of AWC.

AWC is a Yolngu owned business and I was born into the weaving world through ancestral family  connections and done my practical skills since December 2018 mentored by Lilly Roy an Elder and Traditional Owner of Milingimbi Community.

I have also learnt ancient weaving techniques from Elders that are master weavers from Yirrkala, Numbulwar, Gapuwiyak, Ramingining and Maparu Homelands. We are a unique small business located in Darwin that has generations of traditional knowledge that has been passed down from many Elders. AWC is about connecting with one another using a culturally safe space that is embedded and aligned with ancient Aboriginal principles and ethics.

We share our knowledge and experiences with others as well as learning from others.

AWC is experienced in travelling across Australia to deliver tailored workshops for interested groups.

We pride ourselves in always culturally, ethically and sustainably utilising 100% natural bush dyes.

Some of AWC products are purchased from remote weavers across North East Arnhemland and 80% of sales are paid to the weavers to support and promote their artwork. 20% is charged for administration fees by AWC.

AWC provides Consultancy Services around cultural protocols and co-design of programs. I am currently studying Anthropology.
